Inspiration

The following two stories I found particularly inspirational to me. I'm not going to end the stories because you can take with you what you will about them. Hope you enjoy:

Sitting on the front porch Sunday night, a homeless man walked up and asked for one of the sisters. He comes here regularly to get food and call his relative. As he sat there talking about his tent down by the bridge and his issues gaining access to medical care to Kyle, Kristen, and myself, he stopped briefly to ask where we were from. Assuming we were nieces and nephews of one of the sisters, he was surprised to learn we were on a service trip from Bryant University. "You have it made," he said to us. Such a quick comment, but it made a huge impact. We have it made. A few minutes later as the rest of our group met on the porch for dinner, we said goodbye to our homeless friend. Alex, the last off the porch, heard the man mumble "you are the inspiration, don't ever stop doing what your doing."

Monday at St. Anthony's Marisa and I were playing, but mostly watching, a group of 8 and 9 year olds playing basketball. They invited us to join in because we were the "tall ladies" the younger of the two teams claimed Marisa at 6'2," and the other team said they would take myself. I made mention to one of the older guys that I was terrible at basketball and he might not want me on the team. He looked at me and in the most mature voice an 8-year old could muster said, "don't sell yourself short."
